Latvian natives, violinist Kristīne and cellist Margarita Balanas have quickly earned an international reputation as critically-acclaimed soloists in the vanguard of classical music. The sisters’ unique and visionary approach has penetrated the industry, paving the way for a new scene in classical music, and the duo have been praised on global scale for their revolutionary ideas and projects. Together, Kristīne and Margarita have set a new precedent in the field, and their impressive pedigree is a testament to their contributions to classical music.
They have dazzled audiences with their virtuosic splendour in venues including Berliner Philharmonie, Royal Albert Hall, Royal Festival Hall, Wigmore Hall, Tel Aviv Museum of Art, Barbican Centre, Carnegie Hall and Foundation Louis Vuitton. They have performed for the BBC Radio 3’s In Tune, BBC One’s The One Show and Classic FM. Together with their violinist brother Roberts, they founded Balanas Classical – promoting classical music through innovative concerts, projects and charity masterclasses for young musicians.
Balanas sisters have performed for dignitaries and royalty, including HRH Prince Charles and Her Majesty Queen Sofia of Spain.
